The “Is it Winter Yet?” September Update

It hadn’t rained in 3 weeks and on the day of our store grand opening reception, we not only experienced rain, we caught hail. The sign of the times I guess. Winter, although still a few months away, has peered its head and ironically, on one of the biggest local community nights our company has ever been a part of.

In conjunction with the Level 1 premiere, the 4FRNT Salt Lake City store front went off with great success. As the viral channels <http://www.facebook.com/4frntskis>  blast with content so does the local connection with skiers alike from Park City to Provo, all feasting on a new common meeting place – a venue for like minded shreds to talk shop, get outfitted and posse up for the slopes.

In addition to the event, drops our fall campaign of supporting the CRJ Memorial Fund with a limited edition CRJ model, exclusively available at Porters.com<http://www.porterstahoe.com/crj.asp>  and at all Porters locations in North Lake Tahoe. CR Johnson was a North Lake Tahoe born and bred superstar skier and human. A tribute to his premature passing last February has motivated us as well long time eyewear and helmet sponsor, Smith Optics, to collaborate in a celebratory package to support his lifetime achievement in design and influence and bolster support for the future skier through his memorial fund. All proceeds of his memorial package sales will be donated to the fund and limited quantities are available.

With a new season comes old memories, some easier to stomach than others however with the old comes the new. A La Nina winter projects an insane north swell that should properly blanket our favorite playgrounds and we hope to see you up there.

Thanks for your continued support as we continue on our path to improve not only the future face of skiing but most importantly your next day out on the mountain.

High Five,

Matt Sterbenz

CRJ Memorial Package

We’ve teamed up with the good folks at Porters Tahoe <http://www.porterstahoe.com/crj.asp>  and Smith Optics <http://www.smithoptics.com/>  to put together a package<http://www.porterstahoe.com/crj.asp>  that includes a limited edition CRJ ski, a Smith Maze helmet and a pair of Smith I/O goggles. All proceeds from the sale of these packages and individual items will go to the CRJ Memorial Fund in conjunction with The High Fives Foundation <http://www.highfivesfoundation.org/> , a not-for-profit organization that’s committed to promoting alternative healing for injured athletes. The CRJ fund is managed by the Johnson family.

Will Berman is the King of Style

Team rider Will Berman just dropped his 2010 King of Style entry <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYDytkfLoAQ> . Will is known for his smooth style and progressive tricks, and this year’s entry video is no different.

Check out the video, vote it up and spread the word! Let’s get Will into KOS this year.

Speaking of rider edits, check out Episode 7 <http://vimeo.com/15364247>  of Miller Time that Wiley just dropped.

4FRNT StoreFRNT Opens in Salt Lake

Our summer of hard work paid off big time as our brand new storefront is now open. To kick things off we hosted a pre-party for the Level 1 crew and a couple hundred of our closest Facebook friends.

Even though the weather didn’t cooperate with us (as you can see by the picture at left taken by Rocky Maloney), the party was a huge success. We had people packed into the store, hanging out up front where we had hot dogs and Redbull, by the DJ booth, and shredding the mini-ramp in the back.

It seems like anyone who is anyone showed up to say hi and mingle. Check out all the coverage of the StoreFRNT grand opening from Newschoolers<http://newschoolers.com/ns/content/readnews/id/3461/> , Freeskier <http://www.freeskier.com/articles/article.php?article_id=5372> and Max Lowe<http://coldsmokephotography.blogspot.com/2010/09/4frnt-lvl-14bi9-bonanza.html> .

A big thanks should go out to Dex Mills, who did the bulk of the construction work and most of the planning for the party.

4FRNT Skis is a project that was created by a select handful of athletes that all shared a dire passion for skiing and innovation. The idea was to essentially circumvent our sponsors, so that we could send our ideas straight to the press without compromise. This was a difficult time as freeskiing was merely a child in a very mature yet one dimensional industry. It was then predominately supplied by European based ski manufacturers and skiers solely focused on getting to the bottom first.
Our rider owned team was assembled by industry leaders and innovators like Matt Sterbenz, Steele Spence, Eric Hjorleifson and later Vincent Dorion, Niklas Karlstrom and CR Johnson. We were distant peers, but what we had in common was a vision of skiings future and the motivation for change. It didn’t take long before our ideas where put to paper and skis were born.

Eight years later and our collection of rider inspired and driven designs continue on the path of innovation with proven shapes and flawless quality. Everyone at 4FRNT demands only the highest level performance and quality in craftsmanship. We are proud to have established a list of long standing and reputable suppliers to compliment the heart and soul of our team.
