The all mighty great eight questions, or as we call them – the GR8. Diving into each featured skiers favorites, best of’s and nitty gritty – or at least more than their tinder profile will tell you.
Austin Ross, you know the name. You’ve seen his face and if you haven’t just look at the Arc’teryx winter catalog, he’s in there plenty ;). Hopefully here are some tidbits about this joke cracking, shenanigan pulling and all around happy guy that you didn’t already know. Okay, but in all seriousness, Austin is mind-blowingly talented in all disciplines of skiing and also knows how to keep things fun. Without further ado, here is Mr. Austin Ross!
GR8 INTERVIEW WITH AUSTIN ROSS
SBC: One word to describe what skiing feels like:
SBC: Albums you can’t live without:
AR: “Comes A Time” – Neil Young, “Lateness Of Dancers” – Hiss Golden Messenger, “Naturally” – JJ Cale, “Together” – Jesse Colin, Young, “The Rodney Crowell Collection” – Rodney Crowell
SBC: Favorite piece of gear and why:
AR: I wear the Arc’teryx Proton Hoody every day. It’s the best layering piece because it does an incredible job of keeping me warm and breathes when I’m running hot.
SBC: Favorite food and what’s your secret ingredient:
AR: Eggs, all different ways.
SBC: Most memorable moment from last season:
AR: Chasing Ueli Kestneholz on my speed wing down a massive waterfall closeout line at Les Diablerets in Switzerland.
SBC: Favorite place to ski in Canada and who’s with you:
AR: Mum, dad, and sister at home on Whistler Mountain. Didn’t get to ski with them nearly enough last year so I’d get the family together and ski our favorite stashes at the home hill.
SBC: Best trend in skiing:
AR: Airplane turns!
SBC: Favorite book, or podcast right now:
AR: Just read Dr. Jordan Petersen’s “12 Rules For Life.” That really gets the gears spinning…
