ROSSLAND, B.C. –  RED Mountain has kicked off Big Mountain Fest with ∏ Price Community days, Avalanche Awareness day and the Senior portion of the Canadian Open, but this weekend is going to prove to be bigger!
January 20-22 is the final leg of the Canadian Open and will conclude with the Juniors.  Competitors from the Pacific NW and Western Canada will descend on RED Mountain to compete in the 10th Annual Canadian Open Freeskiing Championships .  Both male and female competitors will be placed into 7-11, 12-15 or 16-18 years of age categories.   Athlete check-in and venue inspection is on Thursday, January 20th, Qualifiers on Friday, January 21st and Finals on Saturday, January 22nd.  All competition will take place on Link’s Line.  Awards ceremony will be held in the daylodge Saturday evening at 6:30pm.  
Also this weekend, January 22nd & 23rd, several ski and snowboard manufacturers will be visiting RED.  Come try the latest equipment from Elan, Armada, Crown, Blizzard and Rossignol skis.  Burton will be offering demo equipment on January 22nd only.  The manufacturers will be offering ‘sneak a peek’ into next season’s equipment.  
Finally, kicking off Rossland’s 114th Annual Winter Carnival, is Blizzard Fest ( <> ).  Blizzard Fest’s opening night will kick off in RED’s Rafters Bar with Flowmotion, a Seattle based band (<> ).  Tickets are available at RED’s Guest Services and Rafters Bar.  Tickets are $15 each.  
With snow in the forecast this weekend will be a great time to get out, ski or ride and have good times.
