Now in its fifth year, Intersection will once again see action sport filmmaking pushed to its limits. But this year, in celebration of the 20th Annual World Ski & Snowboard Festival, film crews will be able to bring their skiing and snowboarding footage from around the globe to Whistler’s big screens on Friday, April 17. With an extended timeframe and no limits to location, the chosen crews will put together a 5-7 minute film, unique to this competition, that incorporates artistic vision and a whole lot of shredding. It’s not just about who has the craziest footage with the most snow–it’s about who can put it together best. Audience members will be hyped on some of the best ski and snowboard footage captured this year and they will get to see it before everyone else.

A special requirement for 2015: crews must acknowledge that it’s the 20th year of WSSF! Open to your creative interpretation, we want to SEE it or HEAR it. It doesn’t have to be long or extravagant, just some kind of a salute to one of the longest standing Festival’s in the industry.

Up to 8 spots are up for grabs! Teams will battle it out for the grand prize of $10,000. A 1500+ strong audience will pack the Whistler Conference Centre on Friday, April 17 eager to catch the showdown on the big screens and witness who will be crowned Best of Show.

Teams can use any footage shot from December 1, 2014 onwards. 75% of footage must be on snow. Final edits must be handed in by 4pm Pacific Standard Time on Friday, April 3, 2015. Films must be 100% shot, edited and produced within this time frame and will be judged on both filmmaking and skiing/snowboarding ability.

Finalists will get additional exposure through our media partner SBC Skier and Snowboard Canada. Photos, interviews…more details to come! Note that Intersection submissions will be shown exclusively to ticket holders and will not be released online by WSSF, unless approved by the crew, in sensitivity to the release dates of their other projects.
