After weeks of downtime, the Golden Eagle Express Gondola at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is officially back online. The reopened to the public at 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 7, following the installation of new hanger arms on every gondola cabin, a full round of testing, and the green light from the safety authority.

For the resort, the timing couldn’t be better. While September operations mean hikers, bikers, and sightseers can once again reach the alpine, the bigger story lies in the months ahead. With its signature 1,260 metres of vertical, the Golden Eagle Express is the backbone of Kicking Horse’s winter experience, providing direct access to alpine terrain, couloirs, and the resort’s legendary steeps.

Having the gondola cleared and ready for service now ensures the resort can roll into winter without uncertainty hanging over its marquee lift. Eagle’s Eye Restaurant is scheduled to reopen September 15, while alpine hiking and bike park trails remain accessible until fall operations wind down.

For skiers and riders, the message is simple: come December, the Golden Eagle Express will be turning.

Additional resort operations include:

  • Golden Eagle Express Gondola – 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM daily (last download 4:00 PM)
  • Eagle’s Eye Restaurant – Tentative reopening Monday, September 15
  • Alpine Hiking Trails – Last download at 4:00 PM
  • Alpine & Mid-Mountain Bike Park Trails – Last ride up at 3:30 PM

The reopening ensures that Kicking Horse Mountain Resort heads into winter 2025 with its marquee gondola ready to deliver skiers and riders straight to the top.
