It’s an absolute honor to be the managing editor of both SBC Skier and Snowboard Canada Magazine. The opportunity to work with such talented writers, photographers, and athletes in both disciplines is a dream come true. I’m excited to keep the established tone at SBC Skier and interject a more equal representation of all genders and races encompassed by the snow industry.” – Abby Cooper

Abby was the associate editor at SBC Skier before taking on the role of managing editor at Snowboard Canada Magazine and is looking forward to getting back in touch with her established ski relationships and expanding her network with her new title.

Jay Mandarino, SBC’s Managing Publisher & CEO says, “As we move into our next evolution of our magazines it is with great pleasure that our whole team and myself welcome  Abby to her new position and now taking on both roles. She’s proved already her success on Snowboard and will only take that same successful attitude and do the same with SBC Skier.”

Over the last decade, Abby has crafted a career in the outdoor industry as an internationally published photographer and writer specializing in backcountry photoshoots and culture. She has shot signature industry brand imagery and has worked with many of the legendary athletes that have shaped snowboard culture as we know it. Growing up in Calgary Alberta, Abby Cooper frequented the snowy offerings of Banff weekly throughout her entire childhood. Mountain culture shaped Abby’s friendships and professional pursuits from a young age. She attended university and obtained a bachelor’s degree in photography and advertising while living near Jackson Hole WY.

Abby shares, “I’m thrilled to interject some life into stories from past, present, and future of skiing while connecting our beloved industry. I’m dedicated to producing a well-rounded magazine that represents not only the culture of skiing but the community as well.”

Abby’s been a busy bee working on print, but she’ll chime in on the digital side soon 🙂 In the meantime, we encourage you to subscribe to the print magazine and keep checking back for the digital goods!
