Ski resorts in the Chilean Andes such as Portillo and Valle Nevado have experienced heavy snow in the last two weeks. The current snowfall to date is around the 4 meter mark and has enabled many of the ski resorts in the area to open early.
Four feet of fresh snow has landed in the mountains 1-2 hours from Santiago, the capital city of Chile, and it just keeps coming. Portillo, one of the most famous ski resorts in the area is forecasting another 40cm in the next week.
Just when we thought that the 23/24 ski season was over for good, news from the South has forced us to look within ourselves to see if we have anything left in the tank for a summer trip to the Chilean Andes.
