Two seasons, the Selkirks, the Coast Mountains, and a whole lot of time spent looking for good snow.
That’s the basic recipe behind Biscuits, a new 16-minute ski film following Canadian skiers Nat Segal and Erin Spong through two winters in British Columbia.
The pair bounce between ski objectives, long approaches and the inevitable stretches of waiting for the mountains to cooperate. There’s plenty of proper skiing in the mix, but Biscuits is less interested in making everything look effortless. The film gets into progression, mentorship, fear, and the reality of trying to push your skiing while navigating the usual chaos that comes with spending a winter chasing lines.
There’s also a strong Revelstoke connection. The film was produced by NS Creative, the local production outfit behind a growing collection of mountain films and projects.
Segal and Spong are both no strangers to technical BC terrain, and putting the two together makes for a pretty fun combination. There’s big skiing, but also plenty of personality, which is exactly what you want from a ski film that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Biscuits premiered September 24 as part of the Girl Winter Film Tour, with screenings continuing across North America through December.
So if you’re already starting to get that late-September itch for snow, this should help scratch it.
