There is currently a heatwave in BC and the SBC SKIER office is sweltering. While we try to work in an air fryer, we dream of colder winter days. We thought we would put together a list of places where you can do some summer skiing in 2024.
Timberline (Mt. Hood), Oregon
Hood is a classic summer spot for summer skiing. Timberline Resort builds an awesome park for sunny slush laps and if you have the hook up, you can sometimes squeeze into the Windell’s private park. Hood also offers some great camping in the area with great swimming spots to stay cool off the mountain. More info
Portillo, Chile
Portillo has had a record-breaking begining to their season, 5.5 metres of snow have already blanketed the South American Ski Resort. If you are craving powder instead of hot laps in the park, get to Portillo ASAP
Cadrona, New Zealand
Another Southern Hemisphere resort, Cadrona is a great option for skiing in the North American summer because, well, its winter down there… Close to the beautiful town of Wanaka, Cadrona is an amazing ski field (yes they call them ski fields down there) for every type of skiing, piste to park. Saas Fe, Switzerland
One of the most famous glaciers in the Alps, The Allalin Glacer above Saas Fe is home to all sorts of Red Bull Development Camps and Comps. Skiers from all over the world flock to Saas Fe in the summer to work on their skills, with the park offering lots of options for progression. More info
Hintertux, Austria
Hintertux is one of the few remaining glaciers (RIP) to be open 365 days a year. Skiing every day of the year is a just a little more challenging at HT. With 20km of skiable terrain available in the summer, there is no excuse in taking a rest day. More info
