Mississauga’s Celebration Square is about to transform into a high-octane winter wonderland as APIK, a one-of-a-kind winter action sports event, makes its debut from February 7 to 9, 2025. Presented by TRIBU and Visit Mississauga, this marks the first time APIK is taking place outside its original home in Montreal. Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan or just love winter vibes, this event is one you won’t want to miss.
What to Expect at APIK
For three adrenaline-packed days, Celebration Square will host:
- Free and accessible activities for all ages, including thrilling skiing and snowboarding competitions.
- Performances by professional athletes such as:
- American skiing legend Tom Wallisch
- Professional snowboarder Natalie Allport
- Canadian Championships slopestyle gold medalist Frank Jobin
- Olympian medalists Laurie Blouin and Meghan Oldman
These pros will showcase jaw-dropping tricks and stunts—all free for the public to watch.
The Competitions
With over 80 male and female athletes from around the globe, the stakes are high: a $100,000 prize purse is up for grabs. Competitors will be judged on the style and quality of their tricks and descents. The custom-built installation by Today’s Park ensures the perfect stage for these elite athletes to shine. Add in music and lights, and you’ve got an electrifying atmosphere that promises to keep the crowd on their feet.
APIK Buzz
“Mississauga – be sure not to miss this epic display of winter action sports right here in our city’s centre,” said Victoria Clarke, CEO of Visit Mississauga. “Following on the success of JACKALOPE this summer, Visit Mississauga is delighted to once again partner with TRIBU to bring APIK to Mississauga for the first time ever. We invite you to bring your whole family out to this free event and enjoy the magic of winter while you experience the rush of watching these incredibly talented ski and snowboard athletes compete. It’s going to be exhilarating, entertaining, and lots of fun. See you in February!”
“We’re excited to be back at Celebration Square! We’ve always been about creating and developing bold and innovative concepts that generate unique, adrenaline-powered experiences,” said Micah Desforges, TRIBU CEO. “We’re bringing the snowy mountain spirit to the city with APIK! After two successful editions of APIK in Montréal, we’re proud to be able to inject this unique energy into downtown Mississauga and make it more attractive than ever.”
The brains behind the JACKALOPE action sports festival, which held its first edition in Mississauga this past July and featured skateboarding and BASE jump competitions, is back with an equally daring urban concept: APIK.
