There’s no shortage of ski movies dropping every fall, but We Can’t Not, the latest production from Legs of Steel and Red Bull Media House, offers something a little different, and honestly, it’s our favourite watch so far this ski movie season.

Led by British freeskier and filmmaker Paddy Graham, the film explores the obsession behind ski filmmaking. After years of trying to explain his career to family and friends, Graham brings them into his world, offering a mix of behind-the-scenes moments, humour and, of course, some seriously impressive skiing.

The skier lineup is stacked, featuring Markus Eder, Kye Petersen, Finn Bilous, Tom Ritsch and Paddy Graham, alongside a wider cast of talented skiers. Filmed across Alaska, Whistler, Hokkaido, Wānaka and beyond, the movie delivers plenty of big-mountain action, with the Chugach Mountains providing some of its biggest moments. Sean Bean’s narration adds an unexpected dose of Hollywood flair.

What sets We Can’t Not apart is its willingness to look beyond the finished ski segments. It explores the people, travel, waiting and madness that go into chasing the perfect shot, all while delivering the cinematography and skiing you’d expect from a Legs of Steel production.

The film’s approach has clearly struck a chord. At the 2026 iF3 Movie Awards, We Can’t Not took home Best Cinematography, cementing its place among this year’s standout ski films.

It’s a refreshing take on the ski movie format and a reminder that, for some of us, skiing isn’t really a choice. It’s just something we can’t not do.
