Big White Ski Resort just announced a $9.4 million CAD investment in a series of offseason improvement projects designed to modernize infrastructure and enhance the guest experience.

Village Centre Mall Upgrades

$2.6 million CAD will go toward upgrades at the Village Centre Mall, including a new daycare facility and an expanded Kids’ Centre. These will take over the current Riders Store location, which is relocating to the Whitefoot Lodge. A new stairway will also be added to better connect the parking areas to the mall’s main level walkway.

Lift Modernizations

Two chairlifts are slated for upgrades. The Black Forest Express will undergo a $3 million CAD overhaul, including the installation of an auxiliary motor to improve reliability. The Ridge Rocket chairlift will receive a new drive controller and a fresh coat of paint. A full modernization of Ridge Rocket is scheduled for the 2026 offseason.

Parking Expansion

To alleviate congestion during peak times, Big White is expanding parking at the Black Forest base area. Plans include enlarging the existing upper lot and building a new lower overflow lot.

Additional Enhancements

Other offseason improvements include:

  • Refurbishing and reopening the Kettle Valley Steakhouse
  • A new WINTERSTEIGER tuning machine and skate sharpener for the Repair Shop
  • Acquisition of a PistenBully 400 winch cat
  • RFID gate installations in beginner areas
  • New digital signage infrastructure atop Black Forest
  • Fiber optic upgrades across several terrain pods
  • New electric lines in the Ridge Rocket zone to support improved signage
  • Ongoing brush clearing to reduce wildfire risk

“These enhancements are part of our long-term vision for modernization,” said Darcy Arnold, Chief Operating Officer at Big White. “They’re strategic investments that will help us grow smarter, more sustainably, and with our guests’ experience at the core.”
